The bill (Reg. No 2199) suggests amending part three of the article 116 of the Criminal Executive Code of Ukraine re prohibition on force-feeding of prisoners who deliberately refused to accept food.
It was stated at the meeting that, according to article 28 of the Constitution of Ukraine, everyone has the right to respect of his or her dignity. No one shall be subjected to torture, cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment that violates his or her dignity. No person shall be subjected to medical, scientific or other experiments without his or her free consent.
Given this, people’s deputies deem that the amendments proposed to the current legislation in the draft law correspond to the Constitution of Ukraine.
